4-H Poultry Barbecue Contest

The 4-H Poultry Barbecue Contest is designed to develop skills in the preparation and use of chicken. Safe preparation practices and good food hygiene are primary goals.
Rules and Specific Information:
- Open to any Connecticut 4-H member or anyone eligible to enter "Over the Clover".
- Each contestant must furnish their own barbecue sauce and cooking utensils. Chicken, charcoal and grills will be provided or contestants may bring their own grill.
- Participants should pre-register on exhibitor form located at the center of the fair book.
- Contestants will assemble at the contest site 30 minutes before starting time. Each contestant will prepare two (2) chicken pieces. One piece half is submitted to the judges for tasting. A contestant may not marinate or inject any fluid into the chicken.
- A 2 and ½ hour time limit will be strictly enforced for preparing the chicken. The contestant will turn in the finished product at the end of the stated cooking time.
- Contestant must submit a copy of the recipe used for the barbecue sauce.
